About Me

I’m a 25 year old freelance copywriter with a BA (Hons) Film degree from Falmouth University and many years’ professional writing experience. This website was originally established as a film blog in my first year of university to publish the work I was producing as part of my studies. Having graduated and becoming a self-employed freelance copywriter, I now use the platform as an online portfolio to compile all of my published work, further develop my skills and publish the writing I continue to produce in my personal time.

In addition to providing valuable writing experience, running my own website has taught me specialised knowledge in content creation, site management, social media strategy and web design.

Though I’ve always had a passion for cinema, I began writing about film seriously during my first year of university when I submitted reviews, features and interviews to Falmouth University’s student-run film website Rushes (which I later became an editor of) and student newspaper Flex. Since graduating I have made many voluntary contributions to a number of different publications. from online sites such as Sabotage Times, Guardian’s Film Blog, and Metro’s GameCentral to print media such as West Briton, Cornish Guardian, and Big Screen/ Movie Magic magazines.

Having started on a voluntary basis for both Big Screen and Movie Magic for a number of years, I was hand-picked to join the writing staff to assist with the publication’s successful transition from the South West-oriented magazines to Onscreen, the national magazine that caters to the UK’s independent cinema sector, in 2013. Recently I was promoted to Assistant Editor of the magazine and work closely with the chief editor on every issue. As well as editorial tasks such as proof-reading, selecting content, and ensuring each issue maintains a consistent style, I also work as a social media manager for Onscreen and operate the Facebook and Twitter profiles.

If you’ve not guessed already, I am a movie fanatic and my work largely tends to focus on film, but I am very eager to expand my skills to different fields; particularly television and video games. I have a passion for learning and believe I can apply all of the skills and experience I have gained from writing about to film to any subject.

I’m enthusiastic, reliable, and versatile so whether you need copywriting for your publication/ business or a review of your work, I am happy to be involved. Please contact me at mrleecurtis@gmail.com

Thank you for visiting my website and I hope you enjoy the content.
